About

I started this journey with wire bending about 4 years ago now but creating art is a passion I have always had and I love sharing it with others. I love the challenge that custom orders bring so please if you have something in mind, contact me and let’s make it happen!

Working with wire is one of the oldest techniques for making handmade jewellery, the history of wire wrapped jewelry can be dated way back to 1446 BC.

They site the event in Exodus 28 of Moses being instructed to create Aaron’s breastplate. The breastplate included gold rings and chains as well as 12 gemstones: ruby, topaz, beryl, turquoise, sapphire, emerald, jacinth, agate, amethyst, chrysolite, onyx and jasper. These gems were all set with gold filigree.

Researchers have found elements of wire jewellery in ancient pharaohs’ tombs and pyramids in Egypt, in Roman and Viking artifacts and even in France and England around 1270 A.D. in the form of chainmail.

Recently a 2000 year old gold wire earring, set with emerald and pearls, was found in Jerusalem. It was discovered in excavations conducted by the Israel Antiquities Authority in the Giv‘ati car park at the City of David, in the area of the “Walls around Jerusalem National Park”. A photo of the earring and excavation site can be viewed at the Israel National News website.

I love wire work for so many reasons but it truly is the modern artists link to history and can be enjoyed by everyone.
